MORE than 500 schools will compete for four major titles in the first-ever Esports Estudyante: The National Championships.

Hosted by the Dark League Studios, the largest campus Esports league in the country will kick off on Monday, Oct 14.

“The Eports Estudyante national championship seeks to promote fun and healthy competition to find the best talents in the country. It’s an avenue for all student-athletes to compete, forge camaraderie and bring pride to their school,” said Esports Estudyante program director Alexander Kibanoff during the press conference held at the Dark League Studios in Quezon City recently

“It’s the flagship project of Estudyante Esports program, aimed at bringing esports to the schools for a potential career path in this sector. On top of that, it’s to hail the best collegiate Esports players in the land.” added Kibanoff, who was joined by marketing head Wrexler Bayani and CEO and co-founder AC Valdenor

Dark League Studios, led by chairman and co-founder Bobby Rosales, co-founder and chief marketing officer Alfrancis Chua, said the launch of the groundbreaking Estudyante Esports National Championships is about more than just games and prizes.

The National Championships will feature four regional qualifiers from October 2024 to February 2025, taking place in Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The top two teams from each region will advance to the national playoffs.

The top two teams will advance and head to Manila for the one-on-one grand finals on February 22-23, where they compete for school pride and a share of the prestigious prize pool.

Dark League Studios, the organizers behind the historic UAAP Esports, created Estudyante Esports with the country’s future in mind.

“We have to plant the right seeds to the students with responsible Esports gaming. The growth of Philippine Esports should start from the students and schools, and that’s through the Estudyante Esports,” said Valdenor.

“The Estudyante National Championships is to ensure a sustainable campaign for Esports in the academe, providing an avenue for all the schools from different regions and leagues to play against each other. The mission is make Esports not only an entertainment platform but a career opportunity for students.”
