ER Ejercito’s wife, actress-politician Maita Sanchez, dies at 55
FORMER actress and ex-Pagsanjan mayor Maita Sanchez died at the age of 55.
Her husband, former Laguna governor ER Ejercito, announced the death of Maita, also known as Girlie Javier, via a Facebook post.
According to ER, his wife succumbed to endometrial cancer at 12:01 p.m. Sunday.
Maita is survived by ER and their six children Eric, Jet, Jerico, Jhulia, Diego and Gabriela.
The Ejercito family is requesting prayers and mass offerings for Maita.
“Eternal rest grant unto her, O, Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God. Rest in peace,” ER, in his social media post, said.
ER said a wake and a daily mass at 7 p.m. will be held until November 9 at their ancestral home in Pagsanjan, Laguna.
Maita was mayor of Pagsanjan, Laguna from 2010 to 2019.
She served as vice mayor of Pagsanjan from 2019 to 2022.
Maita ran for Pagsanjan mayor once again in May 2022 but lost in the election.
Before she entered politics, Maita appeared in some movies during the ’80s and ’90s, including Epifanio “Ang Bilas Ko: NB-Eye,” the Fernando Poe Jr. movie “Pagbabalik ng Probinsyano,” “Batas ng Lansangan” and “Ang Dalubhasa.”
