EPD lauded for peace, anti-crime achievements
THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) leadership headed by Brigadier General Anthony A. Aberin on Saturday lauded the anti-criminality gains scored by the Eastern Police District in keeping the cities of Mandaluyong, Marikina, Pasig and San Juan peaceful and orderly which has earned it the tag as the most peaceful district in Metro Manila.
Headed by Colonel Villamor Q. Tuliao, the EPD fully implements the law round-the-clock in the four big areas, two of which-Pasig and Mandaluyong cities have been described as among the Top 10 wealthiest cities in the country.
The official said his Team PAMAMARISAN or short for Pasig, Marikina, Mandaluyong and San Juan aims to be a real example in showing good governance and conduct in line with the programs of the Philippine National Police headed by General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil.
Records showed that from October 9, 2024 up to January 27 this year, the EPD under Tuliao further stepped-up its anti-criminality campaign by strengthening their presence in the streets and adapting more innovative and new ways to enhance law enforcement operations.
As a result, the first 100-days of Tuliao saw the EPD reducing to a commendable 3.64 average index crate for the 8 Focus Crimes from Oct. 19 to last January 14 which is significantly lower compared to the records last year.
At the same time, the EPD registered a measly 16.88 non-index crime rate and a 0.14 street crime rate as a result of its enhanced police management operations against all forms of criminality including illegal drugs.
During the period, the EPD conducted 367 anti-narcotics operations which led to the arrest of 531 suspects and the confiscation of 2,363 grams of shabu, 108 grams of marijuana, and 5,807 grams of the high-grade cannabis derivative called Kush. The seized drugs were valued at nearly P24 million.
EPD tracker teams also intensified their campaign against wanted lawbreakers to ensure they won’t be able to commit illegal activities anew. Those operations led in the arrest of 521 targets including 66 Top Most Wanted Persons, 49 Most Wanted Persons and 409 Other Wanted Persons.
The number is 65 percent higher compared to the October 19, 2024 to January 14, 2024 figures. The unit’s stepped-up anti-illegal gambling drive likewise led in the apprehension of 445 suspects and the recovery of nearly P113,000 in cash bets.
Its men likewise arrested 32 individuals amid its crackdown against illegal firearms in the streets. Those operations yielded 33 illegal guns while 14 were surrendered by their owners thru the PNP Oplan: Katok program.
Col. Villamor is one of the four members of Philippine National Police Academy ‘Kaagapay’ Class of 1996 commanding NCRPO police districts. The others are Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas C. Ibay of the Manila Police District; Col. Melecio M. Buslig Jr. of the Quezon City Police District and Col. Josefino D. Ligan of the Northern Police District.
The official said they are fully aligned with the NCRPO chief’s ‘Able, Active and Allied’ or AAA framework to arrest criminality as well as Gen. Marbil’s program to further attract public trust and confidence thru an honest-to-goodness police service.
