EO 74 bans POGOs in all forms, PBBM makes clear
PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed confidence that Executive Order No. 74 is enough to ban all Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators and online gaming operations in the country.
Marcos was reacting to Senator Risa Hontiveros’ statement citing several loopholes in EO 74 noting that online games in casinos, integrated resorts with junket agreements operated by Pagcor are not covered by the ban.
Marcos pointed out POGOs are absolutely banned and there is no way they can operate under any similar licenses.
“There’s just no way…because it’s the nature of the operation that we are banning. It’s not because it’s under PAGCOR or not. Basta’t sinabing… basta’t POGO ‘yan, ganyan ang lisensya nila, it’s banned,” President Marcos said in an ambush interview in Paranaque City.
President Marcos signed EO 74 on Nov. 5 which formalized his strong remarks in his third State of the Nation Address, banning all Philippine offshore gaming and internet gaming licenses that encompass illegal offshore gaming operations, license applications, license renewals, and cessation of operations in the country.
