IT is a call that appears to be drowned as the Filipino people, notaby the poor, try to find ways and means to earn a living after more than one year of economic hardship.

Although the government, through concerned offices and agencies, has been calling on the people to follow health protocols, many still don’t wear masks and face shields.

And mass gatherings, like birthday and baptismal parties, reunions, conferences and the like, remain a no-no to ensure the observance of physical distancing rules.

Records show that a total of 2,417 persons were charged with violation of health protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic from June 7 to 13, according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

They were among the 51,607 accosted for violation of various health and safety protocols.

With a battered economy due to the paralyzing COVID-19 pandemic, the country’s revenue-generating government agencies find it hard to meet their tax collection targets.

Aside from following health protocols, Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go said the people ought to be vaccinated, pointing out that it is the key towards returning to normalcy.

Go, a close associate of President Duterte, aired the call as the government continues to expand the national vaccination program with the arrival of more doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

He urged the people to get vaccinated so the Philippines can reach the 70 million target for “herd immunity” by the end of this year.

Kagaya ng sinasabi ng mga eksperto, kailangang ma-achieve muna natin ang “herd immunity” bago tayo makabalik sa dati nating normal na pamumuhay.
