Employment rate
MEETING the employment needs of the Philippine population remains a major problem of the government.
However, President Marcos’ administration is, without doubt, determined to address the problem before June 30, 2028.
In the view of many, including the ordinary citizens, the government is succeeding in its efforts to fight joblessness and underemployment.
This Southeast Asian country of 120 million people achieved its highest employment rate in 2024.
In fact, it was the highest employment rate in 19 years. Statistics show that the number of employed people totaled nearly 50 million.
That year, the employment rate stood at 96.2 percent, an increase from 95.6 percent the previous year (2023).
Pending the creation of more high-paying local jobs, the government also continues to fine-tune its overseas employment program.
We are made to believe that government authorities really want our workers to just remain in the country.
Hopefully, the state, with the help of the private sector, succeeds in creating more quality jobs for our increasing workforce.
