PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar on Tuesday expressed gratitude to President Duterte for pushing free legal assistance for police officers and soldiers facing criminal charges in the line of duty.

In his last State-of-the-Nation-Address, President Duterte urged Congress to pass a law that would provide free legal assistance to both the military and the police in order to assist them when they face charges from incidents related to the performance of official duty.

The PNP chief welcomed President Duterte’s statement saying that this will be a big help to PNP personnel.

Eleazar said.

He also thanked the Chief Executive for calling for a unified pension system for all uniformed personnel.

Eleazar said.

The PNP top cop assured Congress that the PNP would participate in discussions on these proposed legislations before the Congress
