PHILIPPINE National Police chief General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar on Tuesday lauded a “Bible-preaching” Iloilo City policeman who busy himself spreading the word of God to inmates and operating a community pantry on top of his day-to-day duties in Jaro district.

Eleazar said Police Executive Master Sergeant Cesar Pinuela, of the Iloilo Cit Police Station 3 in Jaro District, holds a Bible study for persons undergoing custodial investigation in their station apart from initiating the distribution of food and face shields to the inmates.

Outside the Jaro Police Station, Pinuela’s genuine public service is manifested through the community pantry he operates and a feeding program he oversees to provide food to residents in need amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Gen. Eleazar said.

According to the PNP chief, he found out from local residents and the cop’s superiors that Pinuela also makes house-to-house visits on members of the Filipino-Muslim community in Jaro to show appreciation to their support in the local police’s anti-criminality drive.

Hearing the good deeds of the Iloilo cop, Gen. Eleazar praised Pinuela’s kindness and noteworthy generosity that has undoubtedly touched the lives of many individuals in that part of Iloilo City.

The PNP chief pointed out that apart from giving food to those in need, Pinuela’s providing spiritual nourishment is equally important especially at this time of pandemic when most people’s spirits are low.

The top cop urged other police officers to emulate Pinuela’s example.

Ibigay natin ang ganitong serbisyo sa kanila,” he said.
