Eleazar salutes 5 ‘Good Samaritan’ cops
PHILIPPINE National Police chief (PNP), General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar on Saturday lauded five members of the force for going above and beyond the call of duty to help those in need.
Eleazar said that two members of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office went beyond their mandate of keeping peace in their area when they donated blood to help save the life of a woman injured in a vehicular accident in Dauin municipality.
Gen. Eleazar said the family of one Lilibeth Salipod Sobreviga sought assistance from the 705th Maneuver Company of the Police Regional Mobile Force Battalion 7 as the woman needed an emergency blood transfusion after she figured in an accident last June 9 in Barangay Bulak.
The RMFB7 led by Colonel Robert Lingbawan and the 705th Maneuver Company, under Lieutenant Jade Basingao, immediately responded to the call for help in coordination with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).
The PNP chief said that Patrolman Reynald Tayko and Pat. Jessie Ray Bulfa volunteered to donate their blood to Sobreviga and immediately went to the Siliman University Medical Center where the patient was confined.
The police officers also gave fruits to the patient for her recovery and saw to her other needs while in the hospital.
Eleazar said.
On the other hand, the PNP chief said that Master Sergeant Catherine Surban of the Virac Municipal Police Station in Catanduanes province did not hesitate to breastfeed a baby inside their station when she heard the infant crying while with his father.
It turned out that the man went to the police station to seek assistance as his wife supposedly abandoned them.
Meanwhile personnel from the Mankayan Municipal Police Station in Benguet and their Women and Children’s Protection Desk not just helped a woman who went to the police station regarding her personal concern, but they also assisted in tending to her child.
Corporal Ghrills Linnum and Pat. Aileen De Los Reyes took care of the woman’s baby so she could focus on talking to authorities over her concerns. The police officers even lulled the infant to sleep.
Gen. Eleazar commended the policemen for going over and above what is expected of them in the line of duty.
Gen. Eleazar said the action of these police personnel showed what genuine police service means.
“This is actually part of the basic concept of our Intensified Cleanliness Policy.
Gen. Eleazar aid that he would see to it that the above-named policemen would be given due recognition for their good deeds.
He also expressed hope that the actions of the five policemen would serve as an inspiration and example to other PNP personnel to do acts of kindness and good deeds for their fellow Filipinos, whenever and wherever possible.
