Eleazar reminds NCR cops to secure aid distribution

PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar on Tuesday reminded Metro Manila policemen to strictly enforce minimum public health safety protocols amid the Alert Level 4 system currently being implemented in the National Capital Region.

The top cop reiterated his directive to the NCR Police Office following an incident in Delpan Sports Complex in Manila where senior citizens trooped to the area to get assistance. Based on the reports, health protocols such as social distancing and mandatory wearing of face masks and face shields were not observed.

There were also some residents who were reported to have suffered difficulty in breathing inside the complex. NCRPO director, Major Gen. Vicente D. Danao Jr. has ordered Manila Police District director, Brigadier Gen. Leo M. Francisco to investigate the incident.

“I am reminding our police officers to be strict in enforcing our minimum health standards. Sa mga ganitong pagkakataon na may bigayan ng ayuda, dapat ay may koordinasyon ang kapulisan at mga local government units,” Gen. Eleazar said.

“Nasa gitna pa tayo ng pandemya at bilang tagapagpatupad ng batas, dapat matiyak na hindi na mauulit pa ang insidenteng ito,” he added.

Police are under orders to ensure that those the strict implementation of a government directive to ban the presence in the streets of persons below 18-years-old, those who are over 65 years of age, those with immunodeficiencies, comorbidities, or other health risks, and pregnant women under Alert Level 4.

Gen .Eleazar further appealed to the public to follow instructions of local executives regarding aid distribution.
