PHILIPPINE National Police chief General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar on Thursday lauded the anti-narcotics officers behind a major anti-drug operation in Indanan, Sulu which resulted in the seizure of two kilograms of shabu worth P13.6 million.

Members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, PDEA Regional Office 9, Sulu Police Provincial Office (PPO) and the Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command were involved in the buy-bust operation in Bgy. Buanza in Indanan municipality.

The sting led in the arrest of a “high-value target” identified as Yahiya Kadjuri who is now facing a non-bailable case for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Two cohorts of Kadjuri identified as Nurdalyn Sang and Tua Putol managed to escape arrest and are still being hunted as of press time.

Eleazar ordered the Sulu PPO to conduct a follow-up investigation to determine the other contact of Kadjuri.

“I tasked the local police to conduct manhunt operation to arrest Kadjuri’s accomplices. Kailangan ding maimbestigahang mabuti kung gaano kalawak ang operasyon ni Kadjuri at kung sino ang nagsusupply sa kanya ng ilegal na droga,” he said.

“Umaapela rin ako sa publiko na kung may impormasyon kayo tungkol dito, ipagbigay-alam niyo lamang sa mga awtoridad upang mahuli agad natin ang mga nakatakas na suspek,” he added.

According to Eleazar, the operation in Sulu proved once again the importance of coordination and interoperability among law enforcement agencies especially in the campaign against illegal drugs.
