SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija – Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar came to Nueva Ecija on Friday and made several whistle-stop visits to various police stations including the provincial police camp to check on their compliance with the Intensified Cleanliness Policy (ICP) which he launched upon assuming the top police post in May this year.

The Chief PNP and his entourage first visited the San Antonio PNP here headed by Major Roderick N. Corpuz and the general said he was impressed with what he saw in terms of the station’s response to his ICP directive.

He said he noticed the initiative of police commanders in the putting up of landscaping in their respective stations, giving color and beauty to its surroundings. “Kase sa labas kapag makikita mo diyan, ‘eh magandang tingnan talaga, at kahit sa loob malinis at maayos pa,” said Eleazar.

The Chief PNP reiterated that having a clean police station attracts the “common tao” to come and seek police help and this is reflective of the kind of discipline he wants to instill in the police force through his ICP.

After his visit here, the Chief PNP’s group motored to the Ako Ang Saklay Inc. headquarters in Bgy. Luyos where Eleazar led the blessing and inauguration of the Guadalupe Women Center, a haven for women and girls in need. Its putting up was spearheaded by the Chief PNP’s wife, Rosalie “Lally” H. Eleazar, and Fr. Arnold M. Abelardo, AASI director.

Eleazar was accompanied by Lt. Gen. Marni Marcos Jr., area police commander, Northern Luzon; Major Gen. Bartolome Bustamante, chief of the Directorate for Police Community Relations; and his senior executive asst. Col. Gregory Bogňalbal.

In his first command visit at the Nueva Ecija police provincial office, Eleazar was welcomed by provincial police chief Col. Rhoderick B. Campo and Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. De Leon.

In his speech, Eleazar said his ICP is just a summary of all the PNP’s programs which serves as a guide about the three concepts contained therein such as the cleaning of the station’s offices inside and out, cleaning of the police’s ranks, and that of the community against vices and all forms of criminality.

Also inspected by the Chief PNP were the police stations in the cities of Cabanatuan and Palayan and in the towns of San Leonardo and Guimba.

Among the highlights of Eleazar’s visit included the awarding of medals and commendations to deserving police personnel for their accomplishments, the signing of the pledge of commitment for peace with the national coalition of Lingkod Bayan Advocacy Support Groups and Force Multipliers, the BARANGAYanihan with former rebels and the presentation of guns seized and surrendered for the command’s SACLEO accomplishments for the period May 7 to Sept. 16, 2021.

Those bestowed with the Medalya ng Kagalingan awards were: Lt. Col. Jonathan Meru, chief, provincial drug enforcement unit; Lt. Col. Alexis Desamito, Gapan City police head; Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno, Talavera police head; and Major Gerald Fernandez, chief, provincial intelligence office.

Four other police officers also received the Medalya ng Papuri awards – Lt. Col. Norman Cacho, Guimba police chief; Lt. Col. Barnard Danie Dasugo, 2nd provincial mobile force company head; Major Alexander Pranada, Carranglan police chief; and Major Lester P. Zafra, NE-Highway Patrol Group chief.
