OFFICERS and men of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) headed by Major General Vicente D. Danao Jr. were commended Tuesday by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar for a job well done in fighting drugs, criminality, terror and corruption in Metro Manila amid the new normal.

In what could be his last visit to the NCRPO headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City as PNP chief, Gen. Eleazar waxed sentimental when he talked with his men after their flag-raising ceremony and awarding rites for outstanding Metro Manila personnel and units.

Maj. Gen. Danao led the NCRPO in welcoming Gen. Eleazar and giving arrival honors to the 26th PNP chief who also excelled as a former Metro Manila police chief. Gen. Eleazar also used to be a Quezon City Police District director.

Gen. Eleazar recalled his stint as NCRPO director and said the Metro Manila police force remain closest to his heart. The member of Philippine Military Academy ‘Hinirang’ Class of 198

lamented that it was in this assignment that he got the first taste of what is like to run the peace and order in the country.

He said that it was at the NCRPO where he started to dream big about aggressive reforms to further win back the heart and mind of the community.

“Dito sa NCRPO ko napatunayan, na pwede naman palang maisakatuparan ang lahat ng repormang pinapangarap nating lahat para sa ating PNP,” Gen. Eleazar said.

The PNP chief likewise said that it was at the NCRPO where he formally launched his operational blueprint known as the Intensified Cleanliness Policy (ICP).

Gen. Eleazar’s ICP was anchored from the broken window theory which says that small problems must be addressed immediately to prevent these small problems from getting worse.

The three-pronged program includes cleanliness in the offices; cleanliness in ranks and cleanliness in community. “Maliit pa lang ang problema, harapin na, itama na. Hanapan ng mga leksyon, ituwid. Para huwag nang hayaang lumaki, manghawa at maging mas malaking problema,” he said.

The PNP chief likewise acknowledged the fact that in their own battle against COVID-19, he is proud to say that 96 percent of the 23,000-strong NCRPO are now fully vaccinated with the remaining three percent already waiting for their 2nd dose.

Only one percent of the Metro Manila police force are yet to be inoculated for medical reasons.

The vaccination figures in the NCRPO, he said is a testament to the fact that Maj. Gen. Danao is fully bent at having all his men vaccinated since as the PNP’s ‘frontliners’ in the fight against the virus in the metropolis, the NCRPO must also be in the frontline of protecting themselves since just like the rest of the police force, all their members are not ‘COVID-proof.’

Gen. Eleazar expressed his gratitude to the men and women of NCRPO who were with him in his journey.

“I am so happy and proud to be back here in NCRPO. Before I end, I would like to thank everyone in NCRPO. Naging malaking bahagi kayo ng aking buhay, ng aking career, hindi ako magiging Chief PNP if not for NCRPO. I always rely in NCRPO, kung ano ang trabaho na nakikita sa NCRPO, yan ang trabaho ng PNP,” he said.

The PNP chief has also visited the headquarters of the Southern, Eastern, Northern, Manila and Quezon City Police Districts as part of his sentimental journey prior to his retirement on November 13.
