Ecija top cop steps in to mediate feuding political camps of Pascual, Nagaño
CABANATUAN CITY – Nueva Ecija top cop Col. Ferdinand D. Germino immediately stepped in and acted as an instant peace mediator amid the brewing political tension between the feuding camps of 4th district Rep. Emerson “Emeng” Pascual and San Leonardo Mayor Froilan “Elan” Nagaño, whose wife-Dra. Maricel Natividad-Nagaño is again challenging Pascual on next year’s congressional polls.
Germino initially conducted a peace dialogue with Rep. Pascual, his younger sister Gapan City Mayor Emary Joy D. Pascual, and their father, Pambuan Bgy. Captain Rodrigo “Boy” Pascual at the barangay hall on Thursday.
Following next was the holding of a similar dialogue by Germino with Mayor Nagaño and his wife, who was defeated by Rep. Pascual during the 2022 congressional polls.
The holding of the peace dialogues came a day after Pascual and Nagaño traded barbs and hurled expletives at each other in a vicious word war over the social media using their separate Facebook pages this week.
The San Leonardo mayor who went live over FB earlier, cursed the Pascuals and challenged them to a duel after a land property of the Natividad’s in Bgy. Pambuan, Gapan City was allegedly being dug up by a local contractor to give way to a flood control project without prior notice and consent from his wife’s family.
The next day, Rep. Pascual went live over his FB page and repeatedly cursed Nagaño for allegedly throwing the first stone and instigating the fight against his family.
In initiating the dialogue between the two feuding camps, Germino said he wants to maintain the peace and order situation in both areas and prevent the political tension from “further escalating.”
As a security measure, he said he ordered the immediate deployment of 100 additional police personnel in San Leonardo and Gapan City.
“It is our intent to maintain an environment of peace, where we live harmoniously and respect our differences. Understanding and explaining the situation with a listening heart yields fruitful outcome, benefiting all sides and ultimately serving the community of Novo Ecijanos,” said Germino.
