Ecija MWP falls after 20 years

NAMPICUAN, Nueva Ecija — A 58-year-old trader tagged as this town’s number one most wanted felon was arrested after more than 20 years in hiding during manhunt operations conducted in Quezon City, police said here.

Nabbed was Ferdinand Vergara, businessman, of Bgy. San Josef Norte, Cabanatuan City.

Nueva Ecija provincial police director Col. Rhoderick B. Campo said operatives of the local police, the 303rd MC, provincial intelligence unit of NEPPO, the Gapan police and Regional IU of the Police Regional Office 3 nabbed the suspect at his hideout in Bgy. Muñoz, Quezon City on Oct. 9.

Campo said the suspect has a standing alias arrest warrant for murder dated March 7, 2001 issued by Judge Napoleon R. Sta. Romana, of the Guimba Regional Trial Court Branch 31 with no bail recommended.

“Anchored on the Intensified Cleanliness Policy of Chief PNP General Guillermo T. Eleazar relative to cleansing our community, the PRO3 assures to continuously launch its intensified operations to account and arrest all persons sought by law,” said PRO3 chief Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. De Leon.
