GAPAN CITY – City Mayor Emerson “Emeng” Pascual has confirmed that he was tested positive of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

On his Facebook post, the city mayor said that after taking an antigen and an RT-PCR test on August 5, it was confirmed that he got the virus.

“Nung gabi sumakit ang ulo, kaya nagpa-antigen test ako at nagpositive, kaya nagpa-RT-PCR test din kaagad ako at iyun nga positive din,” he said on his social media page.

He said he decided to reveal his true state of health because it was his moral obligation to do so.

The city mayor, who is being rumored to be eyeing a congressional seat for the province’s fourth district opposite incumbent Rep. Maricel Natividad-Nagaño in the 2022 polls, also appealed to those who had close contact with him for the past three days to undergo the necessary safety protocols.

On his FB page, Pascual also shared love letters sent to him by his children while confined in the hospital.

Pascual also urged those who want to avail of free antigen and RT-PCR tests to text or call 0995-342-5133.
