Ecija E-sabong firm loses P8M in online theft

SAN LEONARDO, Nueva Ecija – An E-Sabong gaming company operating here sought help from the police after it allegedly lost P8 million through online theft after the said amount was illegally transferred to several betting accounts without its knowledge, it was reported.

A report from the provincial police office said the P8 million was stolen by six suspects allegedly led by the firm’s former accounting employee, who used the firm’s access code to the money and downloaded it to several online betting accounts who are mostly her relatives.

Gianne Razon, 24, a certified public accountant and representative of PCII-PCC Gaming Inc. based at Mavin’s Event Center in Bgy. Mambangnan, filed the complaint before the police here on Wednesday.

Police identified the suspects as Renalyn Santos, 38, former accounting staff; Juan Paderes, 37; Renato Santos, 73, widower; all of Bgy. Tambo-Adorable; Sarah Mae Ramos, 31, admin officer of Bgy. Mallorca; Rodel Santos and Ronaldo Santos.

Investigation showed that the suspects allegedly conspired in being able to gain access to the firm’s code as an online gaming company, resulting in the unauthorized transfer of P8 million.

The entire amount was allegedly transferred to betting accounts with usernames identified as QUEEN29, LOURDJAY, BAGSIK29, TATAYBOYBAGSIK, JANGO, and MACKY20, tagged as alleged members of the immediate family of Renalyn Santos.

Police said charges for qualified theft in relation to Republic Act 8484 (An Act Regulating the Use of Issuances and Use of Access Devices Prohibiting Fraudulent Act Committed) are being readied for filing before the prosecutor’s office in Cabanatuan City.
