CABANATUAN CITY – The Nueva Ecija Police dismantled a suspected “drug den” in this city following the arrest of six persons, including a “high-value target” (HVT), and the seizure of about P.5-million worth of shabu and an unlicensed gun during a sting operation conducted here on Wednesday.

In a report to provincial police head Col. Richard V. Caballero, city police chief Lt. Col. Edilmar G. Alviar said the successful anti-illegal drug operation was pulled off in Purok 4, Barangay San Isidro at 3:50 a.m. where a house owned by the main suspect who is being used as a “haven” for drug use and distribution was raided.

Caballero said his men nabbed the HVT with an alias “Alex” following a buy-bust operation at his house where an undercover operative was able to buy a P1,000-worth of shabu. Also seized from the suspect were four plastic sachets of shabu.

Also arrested during the operation were the suspect’s five other cohorts, who also yielded varying amounts of plastic sachets of shabu.

Also seized from one of the five suspects was a cal.22 magnum revolver with five live bullets.

Overall, Alviar said the operation, which was led by his men and the RIU3-PIT Nueva Ecija, PIU/PPDEU NEPPO, and PDEA Nueva Ecija, resulted in the total seizure of 73.1 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P497,080.

He said the arrested suspects, who are now locked up in jail here, will undergo inquest proceedings before the city prosecutor’s office.
