Ecija cops net 6 MWPs

CABANATUAN CITY – The Nueva Ecija Police’s aggressive campaign against most wanted persons (MWP) led to the arrest of six men, including two murder suspects during separate manhunt operations in Nueva Ecija on Monday.

Provincial Police Director Col. Jess B. Mendez said two of the nabbed MWPs were identified as Elder Mata, farmer, of Bgy. Malayantoc, Sto. Domingo and Manuel Estacio, 48, of Bgy. Puncan, Carranglan.

Mata is listed as no. 10 most wanted person in Sto. Domingo for murder and frustrated murder, while Estacio is ranked the most wanted man for murder in Carranglan with no bail recommended for his temporary liberty.

Other MWPs arrested were Kenneth Talania, 31, of Purok 4, Bgy. Bantug Norte, Cabanatuan City, listed as no. 24 most wanted in Cabanatuan City for homicide; Michael Lester, 30, the no. 13 MWP in Talavera for violation of Sec. 15, Article 2 of Republic Act 9165; Alfonso Espino, 70, of Poblacion West 3, Aliaga for violation of Sec. 5 of RA 9262; and Israel Bote, 39, of Bgy. Marcos Village, Palayan City for 10 counts of estafa (swindling).

All the accused are now under the custody of the respective operating police units.

“While we are in the middle of the election period, our anti-criminality operations remain persistent to ensure that no criminals are roaming around the community,” said Mendez.

He directed all chiefs of police in the province to intensify manhunt operations in their respective areas of assignments as per directives pf Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) Chief Brig. Gen. Matthew P. Baccay.
