GENERAL NATIVIDAD, Nueva Ecija – Police intercepted a tricycle transporting suspected fake cigarettes and arrested its possessor during the implementation of Oplan Sita operations here on Friday afternoon.

In a report to provincial police chief Col. Rhoderick B. Campo, town police head Captain Shariel C. Paulino identified the arrested suspect as Luisito Flores, 57, vendor-tricycle driver of Bgy. Pamaldan, Cabanatuan City.

Paulino said that Oplan Sita checkpoint operatives flagged him down at their post in Bgy. Platero at 1:50 p.m. where he was apprehended after yielding the fake cigarette cargo consisting of 26 reams of Two Moon Lights, 15 reams of Two Moon Lights and six reams of Two Moon Menthol cigarettes, with an estimated market value of P10,340.

Paulino said the operation yielded positive results after ordering his men to stay alert after getting a tip from the PIU-NEPPO, RSOG and the PIT-Nueva Ecija.

Officer-on-case Sgt. Jetlee Salvador said the suspect would make the rounds of sari-sari stores here to drop the contraband which was allegedly sourced from the Sangitan Public Market in Cabanatuan City.

Also seized was the suspect’s black Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 8293, or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, are being readied for filing against the arrested suspect.
