SAN JOSE CITY – A 23-year-old man doing tutorial works for kids and who has an alleged romantic affair with a 12-year-old boy was nabbed on the strength of an arrest warrant for 17 counts of statutory rape on Valentine’s Day here on Monday.

In a report to Nueva Ecija top cop Col. Jess B. Mendez, city police head Lt. Col. Palmyra D. Guardaya identified the arrested suspect as Fidel Dionaldo, 23, a college student and private tutor, of Bgy. Tabulac, this city.

Local police also tagged the suspect and listed him as this city’s most wanted person (MWP).

Joint elements of the city police and the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company collared the suspect during a manhunt operation conducted in Bgy. Sto. Niño after authorities got hold of the suspect’s warrant on the same day.

The suspect’s arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by the parents of the victim, a Grade 6 pupil, before a local court in November of last year.

This complaint led to the issuance of the arrest warrant for 17 counts of Statutory Rape in Relation to Republic Act 7610 docketed under Criminal Cases No. 7027, 7028, 7029, 7030, 7031, 7032, 7033, 7034, 7035, 7036 7037, 7038, 7039, 7040, 7041, 7042 and 7043 with recommended bail of P200,000.

Guardaya told the Journal Group that the alleged rape occurred 17 times between May to September of last year at the suspect’s house where the supposed tutorials were being held.

“Ang gawain ng suspect ay turuan ang mga bata sa kanilang modules at isa ang biktima sa binigyan niya ng tutorial,” the police official told this reporter on Tuesday.

Based on the investigation, the suspect, who refused to admit committing the crime, had allegedly developed a romantic relationship with the victim, said Guardaya.

She added that the victim’s parents are bent on pursuing the case against the arrested suspect, who is now locked up at the detention facility here for proper disposition.
