Ecija convenience store robbed by men with guns

CABIAO, Nueva Ecija — Amid a gun ban enforced since the start of the election period on January 9, a branch of a known convenience store here was robbed on Monday night by two unidentified men who pretended as customers and at gunpoint carted away about P30,000 in cash and load cards, including 10 bottles of whisky and three mobile phones.

Town police head Major Joey Cabatin said the robbery transpired at the Alfamart branch in Bgy. Sta. Rita at 6:40 p.m.

Investigation showed two unidentified suspects came inside the store and approached the counter before poking a gun at the two store crew, identified as Maria Jessica Sandoval, 30, Leovy Ann Flores, 24, both of this town.

Police said the suspects hogtied the two victims before allegedly firing a gun inside the store.

The suspects fled after carting away from the counter some P18,000 in cash, load cards worth P11,000, 10 bottles of Black Label whisky, a company mobile phone, and two keypad phones.

Police got informed of the heist after Rowel Parungao, 30, store area manager, of Bgy. Sinipit, reported the incident at 7:40 p.m.
