LAKAS-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte announced on Saturday that she will focus her campaign on the Filipino people and not on other election-related activities, including divisive debates.

Duterte gave this response when asked Saturday if she plans to attend such activities like her election rivals.

“We already released a statement about the debates no, I’ve already decided that I would do this campaign without joining debates. Iniiwan ko na po yan sa lahat ng ating kababayan ang pagdesisyon sa pagpili nila ng vice president na ganito yung aking direksiyon sa kampanya,” Duterte told reporters at the meet-and-greet with Parañaque City multisectoral groups at Marymount Academy Gym, J. Villaroman St., Classic Homes, BF Homes, in Parañaque City organized by Rep. Joy Tambunting and former Rep. Gus Tambunting, who is running for Congress.

“Kung magbago man o hindi, we will let you know but as of this very moment, the decision is to conduct this campaign without joining debates,” added the Lakas-CMD chairperson, who continues to lead pre-election surveys for the position of vice president.

Duterte is the running mate of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.

Their tandem is known as the UniTeam.
