PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday led the inauguration of the 7.42-km. Sariaya Bypass Road in Lucena City, Quezon.

Duterte said the road, which is expected to serve around 15,000 motorists and commuters daily traveling within the Calabarzon region, will significantly cut traffic between Sariaya and Lucena City.

He said it will not only provide faster and safer travel for motorists but will also help in the efficient transport of goods to and from the markets of Southern Luzon.

The road will help reduce traffic along Daang Maharlika from Saraiya to Lucena by 40%.

“It will likewise spur the growth of industries and business opportunities in the area, thereby boosting the socio-economic development of Quezon province and improve the lives of the people,” the President added.

Duterte commended the Department of Public Works and Highways, along with its project partners, for the completion of the road project.

The road spans from the Manila South Road Daang Maharlika Road and ends at the Quezon Eco tourism Road.

According to Duterte, this milestone affirms the administration’s strong commitment to improve the quality of life of Filipinos by pursuing strategic infra projects, improving connectivity, increasing the people’s mobility, creating jobs and dispersing economic activity throughout the regions.
