Duterte honors Distor, 8 others for biggest drug bust

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte recently conferred the Order of Lapu-Lapu on National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) officer-in-charge Eric Distor and eight other bureau officials during a ceremony in Malacañang.

The conferment was in recognition of the NBI’s seizure of 1.6 tons of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth P11 billion, said to be the largest drug haul in the history of law enforcement in the Philippines.

The other NBI officials who received the Order of Lapu-Lapu were ARD Roel S. Bolivar, assistant director for Intelligence Service; HA Ross Jonathan V. Galicia, task force commander of NBI-Task Force Against Illegal Drugs (TFAID); SA Levi-Omar M. Orille, agent-on-case, TFAID; SI IV Gary Ibabao Meñez, agent-on-case, TFAID: SRA Oiver Baisa, chief of Research and Analysis Division; and Angelica F. Wycoco, Miguel Fernando Suarez and Maynard Ramones, chemists-on-case.

Under Executive Order No. 35, the award of Order of Lapu-Lapu with the rank of Kamagi shall be given to officials and personnel of the government in recognition for their invaluable service in relation to the campaign advocacy of the President.

Distor emphasized that the award sets a new dimension to inspire the next generation of NBI officials and personnel in pursuit of excellence.

Combined elements of the NBI and Quezon Police Provincial Office seized March 15, 2022, some 1.6 metric tons of shabu at Bgy. Comon in Infanta, Quezon.
