Dump truck vs 2 trikes; girl, 5, killed
MABINI, Batangas – A five-year-old girl was killed while another was injured after a dump truck accidentally collided with two tricycles along the road in Barangay Niogan, here on Friday.
Mabini Municipal Police Station (MPS) Chief Maj. Mickglo D. Marina said the fatality was a resident of Bgy. Bulacan, Mabini, Batangas.
A concerned citizen called the police at around 12:25 p.m. and reported the mishap.
A police investigator said the Isuzu dump truck was driven by a 56-year-old driver, a resident of Bgy. Tambacan, Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental, was traversing the road at 11:35 a.m. when he accidentally lost the brakes and hit the Kawasaki Barako with a couple on board, residents of Bgy. Estrella Mabini, Batangas, and another Kawasaki Barako with a male rider with the five-year-old girl on board.
The victims were rushed to the Mabini General Hospital for medical treatment, but the young girl was later pronounced dead by the attending physician, Dr. Jessa Jade Dominguez.
The truck driver is under the custody of the Mabini MPS and may be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
