MORE than 50,000 poor residents of Camarines Sur have received various forms of assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Bicol Regional Office as the agency continues to actively participate in the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair-Offsite Serbisyo Payout which started on September 23.

The Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair has been organized by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. and Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez.

From September 23 to October 7, the DSWD Field Office 5 (Bicol Region) has released a total of Php105,715,000 in cash assistance to fisherfolk and other indigent individuals, as well as educational aid to students-in-crisis, through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).

With the service caravan still ongoing in the province, some 1,500 beneficiaries are expected from the towns of Nabua and Ocampo. The Field Office 5 targets to assist a total of 70,000 clients within the duration of the service caravan in Camarines Sur.

“We are mobilizing all our staff to pay the 70,000 target beneficiaries of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair before the election ban. DSWD Bicol is also working hand-in-hand with the provincial government of Camarines Sur to serve all the target clients,” DSWD Bicol Regional Director Norman Laurio said.

According to Director Laurio, the close collaboration with the local government of Camarines Sur has been a big help to expedite all the payout in the province before the end of October.

The last leg of the AICS scheduled payout to other municipalities in the province will be until October 17.

The Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair is one of the initiatives of the Marcos administration to give hope to the Filipino people by providing them with social protection and health services in the comfort of their respective hometowns.
