SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija – Police on Tuesday night arrested a drunk man who barged at his neighbor’s house and stabbed a woman in this town.

Police head Maj. Rammel Ebarle identified the arrested suspect as Rodney Francisco, a 25-year-old quail raiser, of Sito Sanggalang, Bgy. San Francisco.

The wounded victim was Ryalyn-Celle Thornhill, 24, married, also of Bgy. San Francisco.

Prior to the stabbing, the suspect had drinks with Jefferson Palomo and several others at the house of their neighbor Edna Palada, who celebrated her birthday at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

At 11 p.m. on the same day, while the victim was cleaning her room, the suspect entered and stabbed her, hitting her on the arms.

Although wounded, Thornhill was able to run outside and seek help from her relatives while the suspect escaped through the kitchen door.

“Magnanakaw po sana ang suspect,” said Staff Sgt. Lennen Mranda, case prober, when asked about the reason why the suspect stabbed the woman.

Ebarle said the suspect was subsequently nabbed during follow-up operations.

Seized from Franciso was a kitchen knife used in the incident.

Palada positively identified the weapon that it came from her house while Palomo said he saw the knife tucked on the waist of the suspect prior to the stabbing.

A case for attempted murder was filed against the suspect.
