Drunk driver nabbed in QC

A DRUNK driver who was involved in a self-accident that injured three persons was accosted by the police after he was found intoxicated with liquor.

The report shows that while the suspect was traveling along the southbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue, he suddenly lost control and veered to the inner portion of the road. The rear side of his van hit the concrete barriers resulting in the injury of his three passengers.

The driver was already charged for violation of Section 5 of RA 10586 or Act Penalizing Persons Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, Dangerous Drugs and Similar Substances and was already inquested on September 1, 2022, before the Office of Assistant City Prosecutor, Cherry Grace Z. Gamboa-Castro.

Moreover, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) will coordinate with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) for the possible revocation of the driver’s license of the suspect.

QCPD Director Police Brigadier General Nicolas D Torre III lauded the District Traffic Enforcement Unit Traffic Sector 5 for their immediate action that led to the arrest of the driver, who was under the influence of liquor.

“This should be a reminder to the public that once you are drunk, you must not drive to avoid [an] accident. ‘Speed thrills, but kills!’ Thus, always keep calm and drive safely,” he added.
