THE Pasig City police has reported a lessening proliferation of illegal drugs in the city’s 30 barangays due to aggressive police operations.

According to Pasig City police chief PCol. Hendrix Mangaldan, the operations against drug users and pushers attributed to the downtrend.

In a data provided by the Pasig City police, a total of 671 drug personalities were apprehended by agents of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDUE) in 2024 while 31 drug personalities were also arrested.

Most wanted persons and other suspects were sent to jail and their cases were investigated within 24 hours.

The police accomplishments in 2024 were announced by Mangaldan during a “meet and greet” with the media at the Pasig City police headquarters recently.

He vowed to continue the “no-let up drive” against illegal drug activities and proliferation of drugs in the city.

The Pasig City police chief stressed that he and his men’s main priority is preventing and controlling crimes as well as the improvement of public service.

He noted that there is no existing drug group in Pasig City and have not seized any huge amount of drugs since the majority of the 30 barangays has already been declared as “drug cleared.”

He said the continuous drop in the city’s drug rate proves the campaign against illegal drugs is successful.

Meanwhile, Eastern Police District (EPD) official P/Col. Celerino Sacro Jr. hailed the significant role of the media in the dissemination of accurate and relevant news.

EPD District Director Col. Villamor Tuliao assured that the EPD will extend its full support to all media personnel anytime they need it.

The EPD chief pointed out that an effective crime deterrent is to establish police visibility in the city’s identified crime prone areas.

EPD is composed of Pasig, Marikina, Mandaluyong and San Juan.
