GAPAN CITY – A drug sting-turned-armed encounter resulted in the neutralization of a suspected illegal drugs trafficker and seizure of less than half-a-million pesos worth of shabu in this city on Saturday night.

In a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. De Leon, Nueva Ecija acting police head Col. Rhoderick B. Campo identified the slain suspect as Noel Esguerra, 55, married, of Alpha Street, Bgy. Bangkulasi, Navotas City.

City police chief Lt. Col. Alexie A. Desamito said an armed encounter immediately ensued shortly after undercover operatives led by Lt. Francisco Capili consummated a drug sale with the suspect in his supposed lair in Bgy. Sto. Cristo Norte at 10:25 p.m.here.

Desamito said the suspect became hostile and fired at her men triggering a gunfight that resulted in his death.

Campo said the operating team recovered the suspect’s cal. 38 revolver and two identification cards, the buy-bust money worth P1,000, plus 12 pieces of P1,000-boodle money and 12 plastic sachets containing shabu weighing 62 grams with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P421,000.

Brig. Gen. De Leon lauded the Nueva Ecija police for a “job well done” saying the PNP-PRO3 is continuously conducting pro-active operations to invigorate its efforts to stamp out illegal drugs in order to achieve a drug-free Central Luzon.
