Drug ‘peddler’ killed in Luisiana drug bust

LAGUNA – A suspected drug pusher was killed in an armed encounter, and a police operative was injured in a buy-bust operation on Thursday afternoon during an anti-illegal drugs operation in Luisiana, Laguna.

Laguna Police Acting Provincial Director P/Col. Cecilio Ramos Ison Jr. reported to Calabarzon (Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon) Regional Director P/Brig. Gen. Antonio C. Yarra, the armed suspect was identified as Michael Asis Lalusin, of Santa Maria, Laguna.

P/Col. Ison Jr. said the suspect was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Luisiana Police, under the direct supervision of P/Capt. Ferlita Alavata Asnan, chief of police, conducted the drug buy-bust operation at 3:00 p.m. in Bgy. San Jose, Luisiana Laguna.

According to the investigation, the poseur buyer managed to buy a plastic sachet of shabu from the suspect in exchange for buy-bust money; however, the suspect sensed that it was a police officer whom he transacted with then while seated on his Yamaha NMAX motorcycle, the suspect immediately drew his firearm inside his body bag and fired upon to police officer.

The poseur buyer tried to escape and hide, but he slipped in the grassy area, causing him bruises on his left and right knee while the backup security police officer returned fire when he saw the suspect running towards the direction of the poseur buyer.

The suspect sustained a gunshot injury.

Both were immediately brought to Luisiana District Hospital, but the suspect was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician, while the police officer was treated for the bruises on his right and left knee he sustained.

The suspect was identified in his valid ID recovered as Michael Asis, 31, resident of Makati City, but he was a resident of Santa Maria, Laguna.

Upon verification at Sta. Maria Police, Asis is the same person as “Michael Asis” who, upon confirmation at the Philippine National Police (PNP) E-Rogue and Crime Information Reporting and Analysis System (CIRAS), has a previous case of robbery at Sta. Maria in January 28, 2018, issued by the RTC Branch 33 in Siniloan, Laguna.

P/Brig. Gen. Antonio C Yarra said, “Illicit drugs are a plague to the society, the PNP strictly enforces the law that prohibits it. We will continue to intensify our operations to prevent its spread in the Calabarzon.”
