Drug menace
PRESIDENT Marcos is doing a great job in addressing the “drug menace.”
In the view of many quarters, the Filipino people, including the ordinary citizens, now fully support the government’s anti-drug drive.
Of course, this is not surprising because even worried parents now want their drug-using children to undergo rehabilitation.
“Dati ayaw isumbong sa mga otoridad ang mga adik nilang anak sa takot na baka mapahamak ang mga ito,” a barangay official said.
“Ngayon, gusto na nilang madala sa drug rehabilitation centers ang mga adik na anak para sila’y magamot,” he added.
This, after President Marcos ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) to focus on the “big ones in the anti-illegal drugs campaign.
The Ilocano Chief Executive said he was against the handling of the drug menace the violent war.
Note that former President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s “bloody war against illegal drugs” resulted in the death of thousands of Filipinos.
As a result, President Duterte and other Philippine officials are now facing charges in the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.
“The guidance of the President is for us to hit the big onbes, o we are looking at the trail, especially on where these illegal drugs are being brought,” said PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil.
Sa tingin ng marami ay kayang-kaya nating tapusin ang illegal drugs problems sa bansa “without killing drug dealers and drug dependents.”
