Driver nabbed after betting P24,750 collection in e-sabong
TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija — A company driver, who took P24,750 of the total P79,070 collection money he got after delivering pet supplies, found himself in big trouble when he gambled the money and lost it after betting in an E-Sabong joint here on their way home to Cabanatuan City on Thursday.
City police head Lt. Col. Jackyll I. Bilibli said they nabbed Leovino Berin, 43, driver of LIL III Pet Supplies Trading, of Purok Champaca, Bgy. Bangad, Cabanatuan City after his boss, Luciano Llanillo III, of Bgy. Mabini Homesite, Cabanatuan City, discovered the missing money and lodged a complaint against him.
Investigation showed the suspect and his helper Jefferson Inantay stopped at the Amigo’s Kambingan in Bgy. San Pascual here to take a rest and eat at 10 p.m.
However, the suspect took part of the collection money amounting to P24,750 and gambled at the “Pitmasters Live” or E-sabong joint in the said eatery.
Inantay then informed their boss, who immediately arrived and subsequently discovered the missing P24,750 from the total P79,070 collection.
Bilibli said the owner reported the theft, leading to the arrest and filing of qualified theft charges against the suspect before the prosecutor’s office.
