THE driver of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) was burned to death while his two passengers were slightly injured when their vehicle caught fire after a collision with an Isuzu truck at the southbound lane of North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Skyway Wednesday evening in Malabon City.

Malabon police chief P/Col. Jay Baybayan said Michael Sanchez died on the spot while Kristiana Yanhi Noga and Carlo James Reyes got minor injuries, according to the Malabon Rescue Team.

Traffic investigator P/SSg Baltazar Gallangi said the victim was driving fast his Audi Q8 SUV at the southbound lane of Skyway at around 11:45 p.m when he crashed into the rear portion of an Isuzu truck (NAI-8664) driven by Richard Tormes.

The SUV turned upside down and subsequently caught fire resulting in the horrible death of Sanchez.

“Tinangka pang iligtas ng dalawang pasahero ang driver bago lumiyab ang sasakyan pero wala na raw malay ang biktima nang magsimulang lumiyab ang sasakyan.

Nagmagandang loob lang pala yung driver na ihatid sa Espana ang dalawa matapos nilang manood ng laban sa Araneta Coliseum,” Sgt. Gallangi said.

The driver of the Isuzu truck, who was unharmed, was brought to the Malabon Police Traffic Enforcement Unit for further investigation.
