THE Department of Transportation (DOTR) has been commended for the sixth straight year as among the best-performing and top-requested departments and national government agencies in delivering public service anchored in transparency.

This year, the DOTR leveled up as the 2nd runner up under the Department category, with more than 500-1000 requests and over 90% closed transactions.

To recall, the DOTR likewise clinched the 2nd runner-up spot in 2022, testifying its relentless stand in espousing excellence, accountability, and transparency in government service through its full public disclosure, as well as in upholding the constitutional right of every Filipino’s access to information.

With this milestone achieved yet again, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista commended the tireless and unwavering efforts of the Public Assistance Action Center (PAAC) team—the main pillar of the Department for the FOI strand. He also reiterated the Department’s fullest dedication and zeal in advocating transparency.

“The Department of Transportation is deeply elated at receiving the Freedom of Information Award for the sixth consecutive year. Our team of dedicated personnel at the Public Assistance Action Center (PAAC) successfully handled and resolved various commuter-related concerns, consequently giving honor and recognition to the whole Department,” Bautista said.

He added: “We remain committed to uphold transparency through efficient public disclosure of pertinent government information. We humbly accept this award with a pledge to look for ways to bring the traveling public closer to the government.”

The DOTR was also among the first government agencies to go onboard and enroll its attached agencies to the eFOI portal—a solid testament of the agency’s commitment to provide the public with timely and all-inclusive information.

In a bid to guarantee 100% response rate to information requests, the DOTr FOI team ensures a proactive and prompt approach in responding to requests lodged via the eFOI portal, and redirecting those who make requests to the proper and concerned agencies not under the jurisdiction of the Department.
