DOT, SM Supermalls to put up tourism kiosks

THE Department of Tourism (DOT) and retail giant, SM Supermalls, on Wednesday agreed to put up tourism kiosks that would provide the necessary information and promote Philippine destinations to reinvigorate the industry towards economic recovery.

SM Prime President Steven T. Tan paid a courtesy call on Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco at the DOT Central Office in Makati to convey the unwavering support of SM Supermalls’ to Frasco’s efforts to revitalize the tourism industry in line with the vision of President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos, Jr.

Tan said the late Henry Sy Sr., founder of SM also believed that “tourism is the future of the country.”

During the meeting, Frasco cited the strategic position of SM Malls all over the country to provide a “window into the beautiful destinations of the Philippines”.

SM Prime to date has 80 shopping malls across the Philippines and is set to open 22 more soon.

Frasco suggested the putting up of Department of Tourism Information Kiosks in SM malls across the various regions of the country, to which SM Supermalls President Tan readily agreed.

The mall and retail giant also pledged to support DOT’s plan to educate stakeholders through their various training programs of frontline service providers such as transport drivers who could be good sources of information for tourists on the country’s destinations.
