CLARK FREEPORT – The Department of Tourism (DOT) recognized Clark as the 2nd “top destination” in Central Luzon (CL) and for being the top contributor to the overnight tourists in Pampanga.

DOT-R3 Regional Director Carolina D. Uy recently awarded the “Certificate of Recognition” to Clark Development Corporation (CDC) at the Clark Visitor’s Center. According to Uy, this is the first time that CDC has received such recognition.

“Today’s awarding is the fruition of hard work to promote the Tourism of Clark Freeport Zone (CFZ). This award can be attributed to the active and diligent efforts of promoting sports tourism, your parade of world-class hotels, your parade of compliant hotels, and of course, not to mention, your entertainment facilities, your theme parks, your golf courses, as well as the world-class Clark International Airport,” she stated.

Uy also cited CDC’s efforts to improve the tourism industry and its best practices in this Freeport.

“You see, CDC has also been an active part of the DOT, as well as private stakeholders that are supporting our programs and projects, enhancing the Freeport’s manpower through training and webinars, and assuring that CDC Tourism offers the quality standard set forth by the department. Congratulations to Noemi, the manager of Tourism Promotions, and your dynamic team,” she added.

Meanwhile, CDC Vice President for Administration and Finance Engr. Mariza O. Mandocdoc thanked the representatives from hotels and tourism facilities in Clark who witnessed the said activity.

“We thank all of you, our dear stakeholders. It is really an accomplishment of the partnership between CDC and the hotels and tourism facilities that we have here. Let’s celebrate victories,” she said.

Mandocdoc was joined by CDC Vice President for Business Development and Business Enhancement Group Rynah F. Ventura, CDC Tourism Promotions Division (TPD) Manager Noemi B. Julian, and CDC TPD Assistant Manager Elenita S. Lorenzo during the awarding of the certificate.

Representatives from Clark hotels who were also present during the event are Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort, Clark Marriott Hotel, Midori Hotel and Casino, Royce Hotel and Casino, Quest Plus Conference Center-Clark, Park Inn by Radisson Clark, Xenia Hotel, Hotel Stotsenberg, and Fontana Leisure Parks.

According to the Office of Tourism Development Planning, Research and Information Management (OTDPRIM), Clark recorded 640,353 tourist arrivals in Pampanga for 2021, representing 77.22 percent of total arrivals reported.

Region-wide, this reflects a total contribution of 33.7-percent to Central Luzon, making it one of the top overnight destinations for local tourists last year.
