A food company in Valenzuela yesterday became the first food manufacturing firm to receive the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) safety seal certification.

Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III personally awarded the safety seal certification to CDO Foodsphere Inc.

CDO Foodsphere Inc., with its CDO easy to cook homemade meals as its flagship brand, is the first manufacturing company in the Philippines to secure the safety certification.

The Safety Seal Certification Program is directed by the Inter-Agency Task Force Resolution No. 87 S. 2020 and manufacturing companies are under the issuing authority of the DOLE, along with establishments in the construction, utilities, information and communication, and warehousing industries.

Bello said this confirms the company’s support of the government’s goal of safely reopening the economy.

“I commend and congratulate Foodsphere for taking the lead in securing the safety certification to confirm their compliance to minimum public health standards as mandated by the government,” he said.

He also emphasized that the seal will also build confidence that the company is committed to warranting the health and safety of its employees.

“Organizations with the safety seal certification can assure stakeholders, especially their workers, that they are safe and protected at their workplace,” he added.

CDO Chief Executive Officer Jerome D. Ong thanked DOLE for recognizing their efforts in protecting their people and their products.

“In CDO, we only focused on three things to overcome the challenges of the pandemic–protecting the safety of the employees, maintaining a safe workplace, and promoting business mobility,” he said.
