DOJ1INNOVATING ways on how to touch and communicate with the hearts of children, the Department of Justice (DOJ) spearheaded an Online Child Safety Storytelling Activity in observance of the 2024 National Children’s Month (NCM) at the Robinsons Mall in Padre Faura, Manila on November 27, 2024.

In partnership with major stakeholders like PLDT, Inc. and Smart Communications, Inc., aligned with this year’s theme, “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines!”, the DOJ hosted a storytelling session for children about a book entitled “Ang Paglalakbay ni Tala” which aims to raise awareness among children about the dangers lurking within cyberspace.

In an effort to gain the full interest and attention of children attendees, the story of the book was creatively brought to life through a hand and push puppet performance led by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).

This activity is in accordance with Republic Act No. 10661 which commemorates the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Undersecretary-in-Charge for the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) Nicholas Felix L. Ty, Assistant Secretary Michelle Anne S. Lapuz and National Coordination Center against Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (NCC-OSAEC-CSAEM) Executive Director Barbara Mae Pagdilao-Flores personally graced the event, reaffirming their mission to protect the welfare of children through strategic programs and policies to combat all forms of child exploitation.

“Together, let us work towards a safer and brighter future for every Filipino child, ensuring their safety not just in the real world but in cyberspace as well,” Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” C. Remulla said.
