DOH appoints new regional director for Calabarzon

HEALTH Secretary Francisco Duque III designated Ariel Valencia as the new Regional Director of the Deparment of Health – Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) effective November 22.

Valencia, Director IV of the Supply Chain and Management Service, on Wednesday received the symbolic key of responsibilities and acceptance from outgoing Regional Director Eduardo Janairo, whose term of service ended last November 20, completing 39 years with two extension of service and with nine regional office served.

Valencia said he is looking forward to serve and provide his expertise in the prime region of the country.

“Kailangang mapanatili natin ang magandang serbisyo at mapabuti pa ang serbisyong pangkalusugan na kailangan ng ating mga kababayan sa Calabarzon,” he said.

“Together with the DOH-Calabarzon family, our local government partners and private and public stakeholders, we shall take up all the challenges and deliver all the needed health services to our people,” he added.

Valencia served as Regional Director in four regions – the National Capital Region (2014-2018), Western Visayas (2008-1012), Caraga (2012-2013) and Mimaropa (2013-2014), where he implemented successful programs and projects of the Department, through careful and strategic coordination with the different stakeholders and the local government units.

Before becoming director of the DOH-Supply Chain and Management Service, he was the Acting Deputy Director for Field Regulatory Operations of the Food and Drug Administration in 2014.

He has 29 years of public service, which began in 1992 as a medical officer for the province of Rizal, and then became the municipal health officer of Taytay (1992-2004) before transferring to the DOH as Medical Specialist II at DOH-Mimaropa (Oriental/Occidental Mindoro. Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) and then later assigned as an executive assistant (2005-2007).

Valencia said that all health programs and projects that were initiated in the region will be continued.

“Marami tayong magandang programa sa rehiyon at ito’y ramdam ng mga tao. Dahil ito ang dapat. Hindi lamang ito ay maganda, ang importante ito ay nararamdaman ng bawat tao na syang magbebenepisyo sa mga ito,” Valencia said.
