TAYABAS CITY – A dismissed policeman was shot dead by a lone gunman while urinating at Barangay San Isidro Zone 1, in this city.

The victim suffered bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot, said PSMS Arthur Real, the officer on the case.

Real said before the incident, the victim had a drinking spree with some friends.

At 1:45 a.m., the victim stood up and went several meters away to urinate when the suspect, armed with a cal. 9mm pistol approached him and opened fire, hitting the ex-cop.

Responding probers recovered an empty shell for cal. 9mm pistol, two live ammunition, two fired bullets, and a magazine, all for the same caliber.

In a phone interview, Tayabas City Police Commander P/Lt. Col. Noel Divino said the former policeman has been “dismissed” from the service since 2018 over a murder case.

It was learned that the victim was among the policemen who testified against a former commander of Tayabas City Police Station and two other police officers, who were eventually dismissed from the police service.

The trio had been accused of killing the son of Sariaya, Quezon Mayor Marcelo Gayeta, and his bodyguard in March 2019.
