THE Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) on Thursday sealed a partnership agreement with the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to level up cooperation for synchronized policies and enhanced delivery of public service.

DHSUD Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario signed the Cooperation Agreement with Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD), represented by Deputy Minister Jose Lorena, that formalizes the capacity-building and technical assistance being extended by DHSUD to the BARMM agency.

“DHSUD is committed to assist MHSD-BARMM so that we can ensure that only quality housing units and sustainable communities are built because a house is a source of comfort and strength of Filipino families,” Secretary Del Rosario vowed.

The Cooperation Agreement created a Joint Steering Committee composed of members from both DHSUD and MHSD-BARMM to develop an action plan to capacitate the latter and implement the provisions of the agreement.

The areas of cooperation include sharing of experiences, capacity-building and alignment of policies and programs for the formulation of regional plans and strategies for the housing and urban development sector.

Prior to the formal signing of the agreement, the DHSUD Regional Office 12, led by Director Jennifer Bretaña, has been extending technical assistance to MHSD-BARMM through capacity-building on the common functions of the Department and the Ministry toward building safe and sustainable human settlements.

Joining Secretary Del Rosario during the event were DHSUD Undersecretary for Bureaus and Deputy Secretary Marylin Pintor, Assistant Secretary for Bureaus Melissa Aradanas, Assistant Secretary for Regional Operations Leira Buan and Director Bretaña.

On the other hand, other BARMM officials present were Senior Minister Abdulraof Macacua, Bangsamoro Transition Authority Speaker Ali Pangalian Balindong and MHSD Director General Esmael Ebrahim.

The signing was held at the Bajau Hall, Office of the Chief Minister, BARMM Compound in Cotabato City.
