IN a bid to further fortify the workforce behind the administration’s flagship Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has sworn to office 89 newly appointed and promoted rank-and-file employees on Monday.

The promotees and new additions to the ranks of public servants in the human settlements and urban development sector took their oath before DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar at the Central Office, while most from the regional offices participated via Zoom videoconference.

In his speech, the DHSUD secretary emphasized the importance of each employee’s appointment, saying the success of the department’s endeavors depends upon them. Thus, he reminded them to “keep in mind that when you accomplish the tasks and functions set for you with honesty and integrity, you are also helping the Department in achieving its goals and visions for the country.”

“Dahil napili kayong maging bahagi ng DHSUD, nangangahulugan ito na ang inyong potensiyal at abilidad ay nakitang kapaki-pakinabang sa pagtupad ng mga layunin ng Departamento,” he said.

The appointment of new personnel to the regional offices in various capacities was a move of the DHSUD to help guarantee the efficient and immediate fulfillment of the 4PH Program, especially in its operationalization on the ground.

A brainchild of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr., the program aims to build and dispense six million housing units to beneficiaries by 2028, all with the collaboration among DHSUD, local government units (LGUs), the private sector, and other related entities.

The housing czar likewise stressed that the staff was not appointed to simply hold office positions but that they were chosen for their dedication “to the great cause of truly bridging the country’s housing gap. They are here to take a stand against homelessness, poverty, and the abject quality of living among some in our society.”

“Tunay po, ang kanilang panunumpa sa araw na ito ay simbolo ng kanilang pagpupursigi upang maging mga responsableng tagapaglingkod ng bayan na ang tanging hangarin ay mapabuti at maiangat ang kalidad ng pamumuhay ng kanilang kapwa Pilipino,” he said.

“New members of the growing DHSUD family… may we all work together in harmony like a true family so that, hand in hand, we can accomplish our mission of providing Filipino families with adequate, affordable, and resilient homes that they can call their own,” Acuzar continued.

In response, three representatives from the pool of new appointees vowed to work toward the fulfillment of this dream while upholding integrity and excellence in public service.
