
Dengue cases in Cavite rise at alarming rate
TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – The entire province of Cavite is now on alert status due to an alarming increase in dengue cases in its 23 localities this year.
The Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) recorded 3,379 cases in General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Medical Hospital in Trece Martires City from January 1 to February 22, 2025.
According to Cavite provincial health officer Dr. Nelson Soriano, the number is 409 percent higher compared to the same period last year, with 664 cases.
Ten areas in the province reported more than 100 cases of dengue, with Imus topping the list with 501 cases, followed by Bacoor-456; Dasmarinas-416; General Trias-394; Tanza 335; Cavite City-223; Naic-219, Rosario-141, Kawit-124, and Carmona City-112.
Of the 3,379 dengue cases, 33 are severe, 2,126 or 63 percent have warning signs, and 1,220 or 38 percent with no warning signs, Soriano said.
The provincial health officer added that eight people in the province died from dengue – Trece Martires City (3), GMA (2) and Silang, Carmona, Bacoor, with one each.
Imus Mayor Alex Advincula said the City Health Office and the City Environment Office are conducting misting, fogging the clean-up drive in every sitio and barangay to fight dengue.
