Delivery rider with alleged drug links in Bilibid busted

GAPAN CITY — A delivery service rider with alleged links to a drug source inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) was arrested during an anti-illegal drugs operation in this city on Friday.

City police head Lt. Col. Wilmar M. Binag said the arrested 40-year-old suspect, said to be a Lalamove rider, of General Tiburcio De Leon, Valenzuela City, was arrested in Bgy. San Roque at 6:30 a.m. on Friday.

The suspct was nabbed after undercover operatives led by Maj. Jimmy S. Mananguit were able to buy from him two plastic sachets of shabu worth P10,000 using a genuine P1,000 bill, and nine pieces of P1,000 boodle money.

Confiscated from the suspect were three plastic sachets containing shabu weighing more or less 56 grams, with a street value of P380,800.

Binag said the arrested suspect is tagged as a “high-value individual” after the total amount of illegal drugs seized from him weighed more than 50 grams.

Binag said the seized illegal drugs were said to be sourced from inside the NBP, with the arrested suspect allegedly serving as the “runner” or “drug courier.”

“Siya ang runner ng taga-Bilibid, kasi ‘yung ka-transaksyon natin eh nasa Bilibid,” the police official told the Journal Group in a text message.

The arrested suspect is now under the custody of the city police facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
