PHILIPPINE National Police’s Drug Enforcement Group (DEG) Director Brigadier General Narciso D. Domingo on Thursday announced the arrest of five of their targets in separate operations in the countryside.

In a report to PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., the official said that one of the suspects, a jobless resident of Barangay Libertad, Butuan City, was arrested in a buy-bust operation past 12:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Domingo said that members of the DEG Special Operations Unit 13, with the assistance of the Butuan City Police Station 3, arrested the suspect after he sold five grams of shabu worth P34,000 to an undercover officer.

The suspect also yielded ten plastic sachets of shabu, the buy-bust money, and a cellphone containing his conversation with the poseur.

The suspect is now facing charges for the sale and possession of prohibited drugs under the Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The four other suspects were arrested on the strength of warrants for violation of RA 9165 issued by different regional trial courts in the country, Domingo said.
