TWO separate anti-criminality operations in Davao City this week led to the arrest of two wanted men and the confiscation of illegal guns and explosives, Police Regional Office 11 (PRO11) Director Brigadier General Benjamin H. Silo Jr. said on Saturday.

In a report to Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., the Southern Mindanao Police director said that one of the suspects with the alias “George”, was arrested inside his house in Purok 20 Sanggilangan in Barangay Ma-a 10:30 p.m. last Tuesday.

Armed with a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013, members of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the 112th Special Action Company of the PNP Special Action Force (SAF) and the Davao City Police Office raided the suspect’s residence and arrested him after they recovered a caliber .45 pistol with a magazine containing seven live ammunition and an M67 fragmentation grenade.

The suspect is now facing a non-bailable case for illegal possession of explosives under RA 9516 and a separate case for violation of RA 10591. He was locked up at the Davao City Police Station 16.

The 2nd suspect was arrested based on a warrant of arrest for lascivious conduct and sexual abuse in relation to RA 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law, said Silo.

Tagged as one of the “most wanted persons” (MWPs) in Davao City, the MWP was arrested at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday by local policemen under Maj. Nelson Violan Jr. based on a warrant for four counts of lascivious conduct and two counts of sexual abuse issued by Judge Dante Baguio of the Davao City Regional Trial Court Branch 12.

The court recommended a total of P400,000 bail for the temporary liberty of the accused, who was held at the Davao City Police Station 17 after being apprised of his constitutional rights, said Silo.
