DAVAO City has detected its first case of the more contagious COVID-19 Delta variant.

Davao City COVID-19 Task Force spokesperson Michelle Schlosser said the 28-year-old female patient was swabbed on June 26 after being exposed to a COVID-19 carrier at her workplace.

Schlosser said prior to the infection, the patient already got her two doses of COVID vaccines.

She said the patient has already recovered and completed the 14-day isolation period.

The Task Force urged people of the city to strictly adhere to health safety protocols to prevent contracting the disease.

As of Sunday, Davao City has a total of 30,565 COVID-19 cases with 1,186 active cases.

ILOCOS NORTE HEALTHWORKERS CRY TIMEOUT

Meanwhile, health workers in Ilocos Norte are seeking a timeout as Gov. Matthew Marcos Manotoc on Sunday confirmed that the province has recorded its first case of each of the Alpha, Beta, and Delta variants.

Dr. Luis Jake Rubio III, former president of the Ilocos Norte Medical Society, told ABS-CBN Teleradyo that hospitals in the province are now at a critical level.

He said they already asked for a meeting with the governor for additional manpower as infected health workers need to be isolated. They also sought for the implementation of a stricter quarantine protocol.

Ilocos Norte is under General Community Quarantine, with heightened restrictions.

The Department of Health on Sunday reported that the country has 55 more cases of the Delta variant, bringing the total number to 119.
