Danao intensifies anti-gambling drive at QC

TWO suspects were arrested in different operations in Quezon City as the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) intensified its anti-gambling drive in Metro Manila.

NCRPO chief PMGen Vicente D. Danao Jr. ordered the massive anti-gambling operations that resulted in the apprehension of the suspects, confiscation of gambling paraphernalia and bet money during the operations conducted by the Quezon City Police District Special Operation Unit (DSOU) at the vicinity of QCPD Station 2 under PLTCol Ritchie R. Claravall.

Danao said the NCRPO stepped up its campaign against crime and all forms of illegal activities to help maintain peace and order in Metro Manila as the government continue its fight against the pandemic.

The DSOU’s continuous operation resulted in the arrest of the suspects who were caught while collecting bets after reports on the proliferation of illegal numbers game continue to surface in the area despite the efforts of police visibility by the station commander.

Reports submitted disclosed that on August 26, suspect identified as Ernesto Pancho y Peralta, 54 years old, married and resident of 30 A San Pedro St. San Francisco Del Monte was caught by the operatives while collecting bet numbers and money from bettors who were his colleague tricycle drivers at the Frisco terminal located along Tolentino Street, Barangay San Fracisco Del Monte.

Confiscated from his possession and control were gambling paraphernalia such as list of bet numbers, ballpen and bet money amounting to Php480.00

Meanwhile, Ma. Cecilia Hernandez Y Macarasig, 42 years old, married and presently residing at 136 Scout Shotocio, Barangay Roxas Dristrict in the city were arrested on or about 3:30 PM on August 18 inside the lotto outlet located at 180 Kaingin Road, Barangay Apolonio Samson, Quezon City while collecting bet.

The suspect was arrested through confidential informant that despite the declaration of the Enhance Community Quarantine (ECQ), a Lotto outlet in Barangay Apolonio, Samson, Quezon City, is still operating.

Confiscated from her possession and control were bet receipts, teller machine and bet money while the bettor eluded arrest.

The police said charges were filed against the suspects before the City Prosecutors’ Office for violating Presidential Decree 1602. #
